Dear Community Mentor,
Thank you for serving as a Community Mentor for a Registered Student Organization (RSO) at UC San Diego! Community Mentors differ from CSI's team of Student Organization Advisors. With over 600 student organizations, our staff rely on experts like you to serve as mentors, attend meetings & events, and provide area expertise.
Community Mentors, who are typically alumni, faculty, staff or members of the community, enjoy many benefits including:
• Guiding students to learn, grow & develop new skills
• Helping a diverse group come together to share interests and work toward common goals
• Developing personal relationships with students
• Advising an organization that furthers your own personal goals or interests
• Sharing your knowledge with others
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A COMMUNITY MENTOR
Step 1: Review & complete this required brief Community Mentor Resource Training, which includes information on the Clery Act and your crime reporting responsibilities as a Community Mentor.
Step 2: Our office must receive your completed and signed Student Organization Community Mentor Signature Page, which can be located through the Qualtrics link. Be sure to include the confirmation code phrase on the Community Mentor Signature Page. Without this signed form & confirmation code, the student organization cannot be approved.
RESOURCES
Please visit the Get Involved website at https://getinvolved.ucsd.edu/ On the top bar under “One Stop” > “Register Your Student Org”, > "Complete", you will find a page dedicated to Community Mentors as well as helpful information regarding the daily operations of RSOs such as annual organization registration, event planning, and leadership resources.
COMMUNITY MENTOR CONNECTIONS
A virtual Community Advisor Gathering will be hosted later in the year to provide a space for you to connect with other Community Mentors. We will send information to mentors of approved student organizations closer to the event date. We look forward to connecting with you!
Thank you for your time, energy, dedication & contributions to further develop students at UC San Diego. Please feel free to contact the Center for Student Involvement office at getinvolved@ucsd.edu with questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
