Study Overview
This research study is being conducted to better understand how people perceive appearance. You are invited to participate because you are an adult (18 years or older), fluent in English, and self-identify as Asian, Black, Latino/a, or White. This form explains the research so you can decide if you want to participate. Participation is voluntary. 

What Will Happen If You Take Part? 
You will complete an online survey (about 10 minutes).  You will view a series of people with short descriptions about who they are and rate each face for attractiveness on a scale from 1 to 10. After rating the faces, you will complete a short demographic questionnaire (age, race, gender). At the end of the survey, you will receive a full explanation of the study.

 Risks and Discomforts
Potential risks include: Minor discomfort when rating the attractiveness of unfamiliar faces. There are no known serious risks.

Benefits
There are no direct personal benefits from participating. However, the research may contribute to a better understanding of how impressions are formed based on information and appearance.
The alternative is not to participate.

Confidentiality
Your responses will be anonymous. No identifying information will be linked to your answers. Data will be stored securely and only reported in aggregate.

Costs
There is no cost to you for participating.

Compensation
You will not receive payment or other compensation.

What Happens If I Change My Mind?
You can withdraw from the study at any time without penalty.
