UC San Diego Health Sciences Summer Institute Programs | Interest Form
Thank you for your interest in UC San Diego Health Sciences Summer Institute Programs, FOCUS (cardiovascular sciences), LAUNCH (neurosciences), and RAPID (infectious diseases). The Summer Institute programs are discipline-specific training opportunities for research-focused junior faculty and postdoctoral scholars transitioning to a faculty position. The goal of the FOCUS, LAUNCH, and RAPID programs is to enhance career advancement and research success of junior faculty across the country. Please note that eligible candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
Participation in each program requires a one-year commitment in program participation with the following tentative timeline (with all travel expenses paid):
- Active participation in the Grant Writing Course: The course will tentatively start remotely prior to the in-person Summer Institute I with weekly assignments due in June of the starting (first) year
- Attendance at the in-person Summer Institute I held in mid-July of the first year in La Jolla, CA
- Attendance at the in-person in La Jolla or remote Mid-year Meeting in January of the following (second) year
- Attendance at the in-person Summer Institute II in mid-July of the second year in La Jolla
Individuals who do not meet these criteria at the time of submission are still encouraged to submit their interest form. Our team will contact you directly once the program recruitment starts.
